Adventure! SP Jain Jaguars

Everything you need to know before joining

Small talk with Prof. Neeru

Area of Specialization: Critical Thinking

1. What brings you to S P Jain?
I have been living in Dubai for 6 years and have been working on S P Jain’s unique Passport to Excellence program (P2E) for the past two and a half years. I work with other Universities in the region and really enjoy working with the calibre of students that come to S P Jain.

2. How many years have you been teaching this subject in Dubai?
I have been teaching Critical thinking and other variations of the subject, such as creative thinking, innovation, decision- making etc. for over 3 years in Dubai. I also train corporates on these same subjects.

3. What can you tell us about your experience of working with the Dubai students?
I find that the students that come to Dubai are open-minded and seeking new experiences. I have enjoyed teaching them, because they are eager to learn and apply their thinking. I also like their curiosity and willingness to try new things. These are all characteristics of critical thinkers.

4. How does this subject prepare students for tomorrow’s changing dynamic business requirements?
Critical thinking is probably one of the most underrated skills required for success as a business executive. The subject helps students understand how we think, and how we form assumptions and biases in our thinking. These biases limit our thinking potential and ability to come up with innovative solutions to solve todays burning business problems. The subject teaches students to first become aware of their thinking style and then how to change it, to critically analyse problems, and find solutions to those business problems. There are many real life examples shared in the course as well as case discussions and role plays.

5. How do you compare S P Jain’s BBA students with other B-school students’ that you teach?
S P Jain’s BBA students are a diverse cohort who bring a wide range of global exposure.

6. Why should anyone join S P Jain’s BBA program?
S P Jain’s BBA program is a unique one with unparalleled global exposure in one program. There is immense learning from the academic subjects being taught, but also the learning from living in and learning from how business is done in 3 different continents. Moreover, working closely with people from cross-cultures exposes the students to a unique opportunity to learn how to work and communicate with global peers.
