Everything you need to know before joining
News Flash — During Orientation in Singapore on Thursday, August 27th, the Development Bank of Singapore (DBS, SE Asia’s largest bank) will send an officer to S P Jain’s campus. They will help you set up an account, without even leaving campus. DBS has branches all over Singapore, including very close to campus, in Dubai, and will soon be opening in Australia too. So if you have an account with them, you should be able to use it throughout your years at S P Jain.
If DBS does not operate in your home country, it may be easier for your parents to open an account with Citibank, which has branches in Singapore, Dubai and Australia. Your parents may be able to create a special international account, whereby it is free to transfer money between their Citibank account at home and one that you set up in Singapore. It’s important that you do some checking about this, because banks usually charge fees for sending money overseas, and you want to make it easy for your parents to help you out if you find yourself in a pinch.
