Going Dutch: Ashley on Exchange in the Netherlands

Hi! I’m Ashley Elliott, BBA 13. I’m half American and half Filipino, currently residing in Sydney, Australia. I spent one semester in the Netherlands with the International Exchange Program offered by SP Jain. I’ve had the opportunity to travel to 12 countries and 21 cities all over Europe. The photos represent the unforgettable moments I’ve had the privilege to experience.

First weekend in Europe, I was lucky enough to watch an FC Barcelona Football Match at Camp Nou in Barcelona, Spain!” #GoSuarez.

First day in Venlo, Netherlands and it’s a snowy one!!!”

My friends from Ecuador, Spain, and Bhutan joined me in tasting all kinds of beer at the Bruges Beer Festival in Belgium.

It was Carnival Week in Venlo, Netherlands & Cologne, Germany. Everyone had their costumes and enjoyed the celebration in the city centre.

We also went to Budapest, Hungary; and Vienna, Austria. It was such an exciting experience of continuous learning, traveling and understanding to make the most of what you’ve got.

My friends and I organized our week-long break into a tour of 5 cities in 5 days! It was a crazy and unforgettable experience. We traveled to Hamburg & Berlin, Germany; Prague, Czech Republic, and more.

Weekend trips to Germany were the norm. Living so close to the border, it was convenient to travel to Cologne and Dusseldorf, Germany.

Day trips to Amsterdam were a must! Train rides, long walks on by the canals, and being surrounded by Dutch culture was such a lovely experience.

But most of all, it was dinner with friends like this that made my exchange that much better. SP Jain’s Exchange Program has given me the opportunity to make lifelong friendships from all over the world.
