45 college basketball teams battled it out three-on-three on November 22 in Singapore for a $300 cash prize. These were killer teams, with the best of the best that each college had to offer. And the winner? The S P Jain Jaguar team, comprised of Rhys Mattila (USA), Jevaughn Palmer (USA/Jamaica), Ayush Jain (India) and Mikhail Chowdary (Kuwait).
“We started playing basketball with each other ply around a month prior to the event,” says Rhys. “Since then, we’d been hard at work competing and practicing for the tournament. We knew we were only one of 45 teams in the tournament and had a lot of competition. Finally 6 hours later in the championship game, we realized we had an opportunity to win it all. When it was all said and done, we dominated the tournament — not letting a team score more than 4 points while we scored an amazing average of 12.”
